In June, director Isaac Ravishankara received a message from Interscope Records that Finneas was interested in meeting up to discuss making a video for a song from his new album. The two of them jumped on a Zoom and later, Isaac went to Finneas’ studio. They talked about inspirations, processes, and influences, and Finneas said that he wanted to make the video Isaac wanted to make. It's so rare for an artist to give a director that sort of carte blanche trust, especially when they haven't collaborated before. A few days later, Isaac woke up from a nightmare with an idea for the video. He wrote it up, sent it off to Finneas, and they were off to the races.

Deft production skills, including difficult location scouting in Los Angeles, shooting on 35mm film, and VFX for two critical dramatic deaths, enabled the captivating idea to come to life.
