Fenn O'Meally Captures Flexibility and Fluidity for Byredo's 'Tall are the Roots'

Conceived as a companion piece to the ‘Mixed Emotions’ fragrance product launch, Byredo commissioned an original short film from writer and director Fenn O’Meally, a London-based Black British filmmaking star on the rise. Produced by SMUGGLER, the film merges non-fiction storytelling and choreography to illustrate the analytical and creative sides of our collective brains as a visual metaphor for the fragrance.

Fenn establishes the link between ‘Mixed Emotions’, in its liquid form and the human mind, through a frank discussion of today’s reality intercut with moments of escapism. Through interview sequences and modern dance, she explores this overarching concept of flexibility and fluidity, showing each flowing freely yet bound by the constraints of a particular environment. The piece represents new territory for Byredo, leveraging the power of film to capture the brand’s ethos while emotionally connecting with consumers on a deeper level.
