The project for the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence uses a teddy bear to make the case for better gun regulation
In a new provocative public awareness campaign from FCB Chicago called Teddy Gun for the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, which takes aim at our country’s massive gun violence epidemic, with a plea to end gun violence in an innovative way.
Teddy bear manufacturers need to follow strict safety regulations… unless that teddy bear is a gun.
Teddy bears, quintessential symbols of safety and security, are required to meet far more health and safety standards than guns. Even though guns are inherently the most dangerous consumer product, they are not regulated in any significant way, from manufacturing to gun sales to background checks, making it almost as easy to purchase and sell a gun as a teddy bear.
And that’s exactly what the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV), on the heels of the award-winning “Unforgotten” campaign, has done with the Teddy Gun - a tragic, ironic, powerful symbol of the lack of regulation that contributes to the senseless deaths of more than 30,000 people per year in the U.S.
