This year in partnership with FBI Talent, LIA has awarded two places in its Creative LIAisons Virtual Coaching Program to the professional team winners from the LAUNCH competition, organised by FBI Talent. Isobelle McGrath and Madeline Catanese from TBWA Melbourne beat out more than 25 other under-30 creative teams across Sydney and Melbourne to win their coveted places to the LIA Creative LIAisons sought-after global virtual coaching program. The duo also won $10K in prize money for their work on the McDonald's brief from the LAUNCH program’s agency partner, DDB Australia.
LIA believes that coaching and mentoring are tools that will effectively shape the next generation of creatives. That’s why in 2021 the Virtual Coaching program was added to augment its existing Creative LIAisons onsite program. Unlike the onsite program, that runs concurrently with LIA judging in Las Vegas, this virtual program transcends geographical barriers, giving more opportunity for emerging talent and leaders to access and make connections seamlessly with the best coaches – top industry professionals, from around the world.
No other awards show offers personalised e-mentoring sessions on such a global scale and with coaches of such high calibre. Many of the top global heads and industry luminaries have praised this effort. More than that, they have backed it wholeheartedly by graciously giving their time to be a coach.
As the creative process is fluid, so is this virtual program. Each mentee has access to three different coaches and receive customised e-coaching sessions, of an hour each with each of these established industry leaders. Sessions will cover all disciplines with emphasis on skill development, how to hone skills, elevate ideas and boost creative confidence to fast-track creative careers. The program does not dictate how each session is to be structured. It is completely bespoke – left up to the mentee and mentors to decide what works best in guiding and drawing out the full potential of the mentee.
Laurissa Levy, Creative LIAisons director, said, “Since its inception, LIA has put careful thought into offering mentees the opportunity to be matched with the best mentors that suit their particular interests for their one-on-one coaching sessions. Annually, there are over 200 mentees and coaches in the program. And each mentee gets the undivided attention of not just one, but three different mentors. No other training program offers this unique experience. Many of the past mentees have said this has been the best experience of their career as they have gained insights that they will take with them for the rest of their career.”
As a testament to how truly valuable this learning and training experience is, a number of past attendees quickly rose through the ranks to become high level creatives, company owners, or hold managerial positions at some of the world’s best known agencies, tech companies and brands. An elite few have been invited back as LIA Jurors or as Creative LIAisons Coaches.
