Starting in Seattle this week, KeyBank will be rolling out Mobile ATMs as a way to meet clients where they are—but these ATMs don’t have money. Instead of an Automated Teller Machine, they will have an Automated Taco Machine, an Automated Toy Machine, and an Automated Thank You Machine (with cookies, obviously).
All summer long, from June through September, KeyBank will be travelling across the US meeting clients in the moment with the mobile ATMs. From Seattle the KeyBank team go to Buffalo/Rochester, Albany, Denver, Syracuse and, finally, end in Cleveland.
The experience is a continuation of KeyBank's “Meet you in the moment” campaign, all about meeting people where they are in their daily life. Whether it’s a big personal moment, like a wedding or buying a house, or a small moment, like offering up an unexpected taco right when you need it most after a night out, or the perfect toy to give parents a much needed five minute break at a park. Just like the tellers in your local KeyBank, the KeyBank team are anticipating what their clients need, one taco, toy, and thank you cookie at a time. And meeting them exactly where they are!
“At KeyBank, we meet our clients in the moment, whether it’s helping them open their first account, working with them to achieve the dream of homeownership, or saving for retirement. We’re also grateful they’re part of the communities we proudly serve. Our ATM – Automated Thank You Machine – is a way to thank our clients for making our communities stronger by supporting local small businesses, taking pride in their hometown and lending a helping hand to those who need one,” said Patty Jurca, chief marketing officer, KeyBank.
“As our partner, we’ve seen firsthand how much KeyBank believes in their clients and the relationships they form with them. With this creative idea, we wanted to take the unexpected and show that care. An ATM is typically a simple and functional part of banking. But when you add the surprise elements of mobility, delight, and audience specificity, it becomes next level. It becomes about connection, not transaction,” said Melissa Hoke, group creative director, Fallon.
The mobile ATMs are real, working ATMs, just customised with a much more tailored experience around one really surprising output (that’s not money)—treats! You’ll see a screen, withdraw, and get a receipt. And they’ll travel around via electric bikes, transformed into Taco Machines, Toy Dispensers, and more.
