Eugen Merher has signed to Academy for UK and US representation.
YDA winner Eugen hails from Moldova, moving to Germany when he was five. As a kid he had a fascination for filmmaking, finding his feet using his parents' DV camera and shooting action flicks with his buddies.
In his 20s he attended the prestigious Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemberg in Stuttgart, cutting his teeth making short films and spec commercials. He has a love for the unexpected and the unusual, particularly small town America, where his recent, YDA winning short ‘The Boy Who Couldn’t Feel Pain’ was set.
Eugen’s films position him perfectly within the Academy roster of talent, with creative, emotionally charged and highly cinematic work crafted to an exceptionally high standard.
Academy’s head of emerging talent, Darapen Vongsa-Nga said: “After we collectively watched Eugen’s reel it was an incredibly short conversation. His level of craft and storytelling is exactly what we are looking for at Academy alongside his passion and hunger to create. We are thrilled to welcome such an exciting talent and look forward to watching him grow as a filmmaker.”
Eugen said of his new home: “I’ve been looking up to Academy’s work for years during my film school time and beyond – and I was always inspired by their incredible level of craft. It was a no-brainer when they asked me if I’d like to sign with them and I feel truly honoured to be on the roster with some of the most talented and seasoned directors out there.”view more - Hires, Wins & BusinessAcademy Films, Mon, 26 Sep 2022 14:59:56 GMT
