ENVY Helps Take Channel 4's TFI Friday Back to the Nineties

The award-winning Channel 4 show presented by Chris Evans ended 15 years ago, but is back for one night only this Friday, 12th June with a 90 minute special.

As well as an all-star line-up, Evans confirms that the show will return with familiar favourites including the Ocean Colour Scene theme tune and Freak or Unique. The radio and TV presenter’s sidekicks, Danny Baker and Will ‘Wiiiiil’ Macdonald, are also back for the revival.

Working with Director Jim Hayton, ENVY have created 16 promos, multiple stings and idents to announce the special, using a mixture of old and new footage to re-enact memorable scenes with a modern twist, create new vox pops, address viewer enquiries from the 90s and pastiche the opening sequence using drones.

Martin Waller says: “The challenge for the Special in Flame was to re-create the 90s feel graphics for the features all within the old analogue 4x3 aspect ratio”.

Editor Nick Armstrong felt that getting the humour and playful tone of the show was the key to the whole campaign. “Jim has a great eye for comedy and we’ve laughed an awful lot during the edit which I feel comes across in the final product.”

Evans has confirmed via Twitter that The Lightning Seeds singer will join Roger Daltrey, Liam Gallagher, Blur and Zac Starkey on the show. Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist Mani will also appear, along with Rudimental.
