Commercial & Music Video Director Shane Drake has signed with national production company EMA (Envision Media Arts). The signing comes just on the heels of Drake winning the prestigious “Video Of The Year” Award from the Academy of Country Music for a recent music video he directed for Tim McGraw, featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.
“I am super pleased that EMA has signed an accomplished Director like Shane to our expanding roster,” says Andrew Halpern, EP/President of Commercial Production. “Shane’s back-to-back 'Best Video' wins were for a reason; his work is not simply cinematic and beautiful, it transcends the genre.” Halpern points out that Shane’s piece "Tornado" for Little Big Town, has such great casting, unique locations and dramatic craft that “it has burned an impression on my mind as significant as a feature film about the American Heartland.”
EMA’s President & CEO Lee Nelson adds that Shane’s work this year on "Highway Don't Care" is a perfect example of a Director getting great performances from industry lions, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. “Based on his collaborations with artists from Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson to Flo Rida and Will.i.am, we know Shane will soon be a contender in the commercial world’s 'A-List” Director's Club, and I am thrilled that he has brought his talent to EMA,” notes Lee.
Because EMA is a commercial, television and feature film production company; Drake says the move to EMA was a natural evolution for his career. He explains: “I’m very excited to be with the EMA team. Andrew and Lee come from a similar background as I do; and have experience in helping artists such as myself reach new heights in their directing achievements. Currently, music videos are providing a steady stream of work, as well as a great deal of recognition from my peers. While I will always love shooting music videos, I am looking forward to molding my commercial career with the EMA team, and eventually my feature film career as well.”
