Electric Theatre Collective has hired Hannah Barnes into the role of new business and marketing exec. Based out of the studio’s brand new Brick Lane HQ, she’ll be working with the team to develop and nurture client relationships, as well as finding exciting ways to bang the Electric drum and spread the Electric feel.
Hannah joins with almost ten year’s industry experience, thanks to tenures at Smoke & Mirrors, Big Buoy, and most recently Absolute, where she spent almost four years shaping the studio’s PR and marketing efforts. A lover of craft with a passion for people, Hannah looks forward to championing Electric’s unparalleled pool of talent.
Jess Purton, head of new business, comments, “Having known Hannah personally and her work for years, we are buzzing to have her join the team. It’s been a long time coming and it’s an exciting hire for us as a studio. We’re lucky to have her and can’t wait to see what she brings to the role.”
An interview with Hannah:
Hannah> The talent coming out of Electric is unmatched. What a team to shout about! I’m also lucky enough to know some of the team from previous haunts, so it’ll be nice to catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones. Oh, and being within touching distance of THAT Brick Lane bagel shop…
Hannah> Never. Again. I joke, but it was seriously testing. It taught me the power of mental determination. I finished at 3am and was offered a glass of fizz - but I couldn’t think of anything worse in that moment…
Hannah> By total fluke. I was working in fashion, but wanted a job ‘I didn’t really care about’ so I could save up to travel. I got a gig as a receptionist at Smoke & Mirrors, and became infatuated with the industry. My job roles developed from there, really. I’ve always loved people and prose, so new biz and PR feels just right.
Hannah> Ha! It started as a bit of lockdown fun, but when freedom prevailed people wanted more. It’s a bit like therapy really. A way to unleash the countless questions going around my mind.
- Beer or wine? Neither, but I’m trying to get into both, cos you know, rounds.
- Favourite vegetable and why? Cucumber, because I don’t drink enough water.
- If you could have a superpower what would it be? Imagine being able to click your fingers and be somewhere without the travel?
- Cats or dogs? (and why) Cats because they’re not needy and they can fend for themselves. Particularly big floofs.
Hannah> The first time I watched Coca Cola ‘Masterpiece’ I was floored. It felt like a ground breaking moment, a total celebration of VFX and animation in all its forms.
