Contract will see McCann Demand deliver integrated marketing campaigns as well as full media strategy and buying

McCann Demand has been appointed by the Electoral Commission to help drive voter registration and awareness of changes to voter requirements in Great Britain.

The contract will see McCann Demand deliver integrated marketing campaigns as well as full media strategy and buying, and comes as significant changes to the voting process come into force ahead of the next scheduled elections in May 2023.

As an independent body, the Electoral Commission oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK, working to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity.

Craig Westwood, director of communications at the Electoral Commission, said: “The Electoral Commission’s public awareness work is designed to support participation in UK elections. Promoting voter registration, particularly amongst under-registered groups, remains a key challenge and aim.

“The recent passing of the Elections Act brings changes to the running of elections. Our campaigns will seek to drive awareness of what voters need to know in order to continue to take part with confidence.

“McCann Demand has an impressive record of delivering effective campaigns, and has presented creative proposals for how they can help us to address these challenges. Together, we will work to reach and inform as many voters as possible.”

Chris Falconer, managing director at McCann Demand commented: “We are thrilled to be working with the Electoral Commission to deliver these important campaigns, which will support the organisation’s integral work in building public awareness of and confidence in our democratic processes.”
