The New Piri-Piri chicken Pot Noodle is just like the UK's favourite Peri Peri chicken restaurant – the one that gives black cards to celebrity diners – but spelled differently, considerably cheaper, and in a pot.
So as part of the campaign by adam&eveDDB to support the launch of this new product, the brand is offering a black card and a year's supply of Pot Noodle, not to a celebrity, but to the best celebrity lookalike in the country. You don’t have to be famous – you just have to look like you’re famous.
adam&eveDDB brought this idea to life in a short social film, directed by Laura Borgio of Fresh Films, using a not-so-famous spokesperson and inviting the UK to send in their own doppelgänger photos to be in with a chance of winning.
The campaign launches on Twitter today, with shortlisted celeb lookalikes going head-to-head in promoted polls next week, in a knockout-style competition to find the nation’s best celebrity doppelgänger.
Alongside the social activity, the brand installed tactical mobile OOH placements outside a branch of the famous Portuguese chicken restaurant, with tongue-in-cheek copy which alluded to the product’s similar flavour credentials.
