The post veteran will oversee Final Cut and its partner companies, Significant Others and Machine

Creative editorial and post-production company Final Cut has added Ed Koenig as head of business development in the United States. Koenig will help with expanding client relationships and business development opportunities for the editing powerhouse, along with its partner companies creative studio Significant Others and sound house Machine.

Koenig started off at Ogilvy Los Angeles before becoming one of the founding employees of MPC LA, the company’s first location outside London. Starting as an assistant to senior colorist Mark Gethin, he worked with directors including Adam Berg, Rupert Sanders, and John Hillcoat; and alongside Oscar-winning cinematographers such as Linus Sandgren and Greig Fraser. From there, he became Gethin’s executive producer and they collaborated to expand the color department in both LA and New York. Additionally, they formed several remote partnerships for MPC throughout the midwest.

Eventually, he transitioned his client expertise into an overarching US business development role, working with agencies and brands to augment their business networks. Working on direct-to-brand for the last few years has proven fruitful for Koenig, increasing revenue for heavy hitters like Best Buy and Dell. He now brings this expertise to Final Cut, where he will work alongside Final Cut’s world-renowned roster of editors and esteemed clients.

“I’m very excited to be here at Final Cut,” says Koenig. “For the better part of a decade, it’s a company I’ve secretly wanted to work for. I’m happy to be working with Justin (Brukman, US managing director/director of global new business at Final Cut) again, as I have a ton of respect for him and have known him for years. We complement one another well and the rest of the team at Final Cut is so friendly and collaborative. We all know the work is great but to see it come from such a lovely group of humans is terrific.”

“Ed joining us is a privilege,” says Brukman. “He’s immensely respected in the industry and his track record speaks for itself. Add to that his winning personality and we’ve absolutely struck gold. I’m eager to see all that is to come working together.”
