Ryan joins as chief creative officer and Vince as chief creative partner alongside chief creative officer Julie Scelzo

Dentsu Creative has announced the addition of two new creative leaders across the US, with a focus on enhancing the agency’s growing creative leadership to impact a diverse and expanding client portfolio. Ryan Paulson, who previously held creative leadership roles at BBH and McCann NY, will join the agency as chief creative officer in New York, and Vince Lim, former chief creative officer of Barbarian, will join as chief creative partner.

Ryan will work in lockstep with Julie Scelzo, chief creative officer, Chicago and global accounts. Julie has led dentsu’s American Express business creatively for six years and was promoted into a broader creative leadership role earlier this year. Vince will work alongside the pair, bringing his creative ambition and tenure to lead the agency’s creative teams for T-Mobile.

Together, the creative leadership team will deliver transformative creativity to help clients unlock growth by positively impacting people, business and society. This creative ambition, along with the agency’s business-driven, creatively obsessed mindset has proven to be a compelling proposition for modern brand marketers.

Dentsu Creative was appointed Creative Agency of Record for T-Mobile in January of last year and has been working closely with the brand on their creative vision. As chief creative partner, Vince will play an integral role in ensuring creative excellence remains a throughline in every project across a client of this scale. This dedicated role will drive a truly creative partnership with T-Mobile.

“We’re thrilled to welcome both Ryan and Vince to the Dentsu Creative family,” said Abbey Klaassen, global brand president, Dentsu Creative. “As we continue to build our portfolio and our client needs continue to grow and diversify, it’s more important than ever to invest in creative. We have high ambitions. And we love the concept of a team made of individuals who complement one another. Ryan and Vince, along with Julie, will bolster our creative leadership with their unique skillsets and perspectives, which I believe will ensure creative excellence across the board in what is a scaled and growing set of clients.”

Ryan Paulson will join Dentsu Creative as chief creative officer in New York, leading a portfolio of clients based out of the New York office and will work alongside Julie and Vince to cultivate the overarching creative community, elevating the agency’s work across the board. Ryan’s tenure in creative leadership includes previous roles at BBH and McCann NY, where he worked on clients like Samsung (globally) and Verizon. He is also passionate about mentoring and teaching young creatives to foster and develop excellence, which will be a key part of his role.

Ryan Paulson said, "I love the idea of Transformative Creativity and extending creative thinking across media, data and CXM. I’m excited to be a part of that vision, and I’m looking forward to bringing it to life with this group of leaders, who are equal parts innovative and smart, but also incredibly kind. Great vision, great people. I can’t wait to get started."

Vince Lim will join Dentsu Creative as chief creative partner for the T-Mobile business, after having served as chief creative officer at Barbarian. Vince brings over 30 years of experience in the industry, including award-winning accolades from D&AD and Cannes and the one of creative leaders behind State Street Global Advisors’ 'Fearless Girl' statue. He's worked in agencies around the world, with creative leadership roles on a diverse set of clients, spanning several industries, from food and beverage to finance and tech.

Vince Lim said, “I’m thrilled to contribute to the continued success of Dentsu Creative and demonstrate how Transformative Creativity can drive success for T-Mobile. I’m also eager to collaborate with others who share a similar vision and philosophy.”

“I’m feeling super energised about the additions of both Ryan and Vince to our creative leadership team,” said Julie Scelzo, chief creative officer, Chicago and global accounts. “One of the things we pride ourselves on the most at Dentsu Creative is the ability to let our clients’ problems dictate our creative approach, and with the addition of Ryan and Vince’s expertise, knowledge, and perspective, I think our ability to drive innovative, creative solutions will expand even further than it already has. I’m excited to partner with them on fostering creative excellence across the agency, both in the work we produce, but also for our people – our creative teams are only going to get stronger as we all learn from each other, which is essential at a time when creativity is paramount to driving growth.”

“Our global creative community is looking forward to welcoming such talented new creative leaders,” said Yasu Sasaki, global chief creative officer, dentsu. “Their experience and perspective offer the perfect mix to deliver on our promise of impacting business, people and society through innovative creative work. We can be very excited about what’s ahead for our clients in the US as well as how their contribution will be felt globally.”

Named an Ad Age A-List Standout Agency in 2024, Dentsu Creative US has seen significant momentum with key new business wins across, including T-Mobile, Lowe’s and Honeywell, to name a few.
