Daniels Stage a Bloody Blood Drive for The Shins
Directing duo Daniels – a.k.a Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – have created a rather messy new music video for American indie rockers The Shins that sees a blood drive descend into chaos.
The video also serves as a trailer for Adult Swim Comedy Childrens Hospital. The show, which started off life as an online series and is the proud owner of a Webby Award, was created comedy series was created by Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and features an all-star cast. The promo sees the staff of the hospital turn a routine blood drive into a sanguinary water fight. Sinister-looking clown, Dr Blake Downs (played by Rob Corddry) introduces the video.
It’s not the first time hot-property directing duo Daniels have worked with The Shins – earlier in the year they created a darkly humourous promo for the track Simple Song, which cast frontman James Mercer as a recently deceased patriarch, and the rest of the band as his ungrateful offspring.
