Container Love Celebrates Queer Culture with the ‘Visible Love’ Exhibition

To love free from discrimination should be a given in these times, but unfortunately, any little step towards the progress of LGBTQIA+ rights is constantly under threat and scrutiny. In the context of celebrating its 10th anniversary, the awarded global queer platform, Container Love presents the third edition of Visible Love: an exhibition of photography and films at POP KUDAMM to celebrate and promote visibility and love of unapologetic queerness.

Starting on August 16th with a grand vernissage and running until August 31st, the Berlin-based platform presents an exclusively curated exhibition of photography and films to celebrate queer culture. Working with international photographers capturing the ever-expanding reality of queer identities, the time has come for Container Love to unveil its first printed Visibility Issue. Turning its official launch into a free grand opening, the vernissage celebrated on August 16th had over 700 people in a memorable night of community, celebration and queerness. The debut of the magazine kicked off this edition of Visible Love with an evening of music, arts, live performances, and unapologetic love.

This year, Visible Love’s next event lined-up comes in association with music production agency, 86Tales, and Berlin Commercial Film Festival bringing a new night to remember on Wednesday, August 23rd. Hosting a special curation of queer films, followed up by two panel talks about diversity, authentic queer storytelling, and positive change, this satellite event of Berlin Commercial will also include music acts, drinks, and a DJ set to close the night. Join the first panel moderated by journalist and artist Tarik Tesfu, featuring and sharing perspectives with photographer and director Sophia Emmerich, writer Samuel Benke, and podcaster and artist Robin Solf. Continue the celebration with the second panel talk moderated by co-host of BBQ podcast Zuher Jazmati, joined by Leila El-Kayem, executive creative director of Anomaly Berlin; Odile Breffa, senior creative strategist of Innocean Berlin; and Samet Akti, principal of diversity and inclusion at Zalando. Through these two conversations, we present a dialogue aimed at fostering positive change towards diversity, equity and inclusion, thereby enhancing broader representation within the creative industry. The night will be rounded off by two live music performances by Tarik Tesfu and emerging R&B star Marshall Vincent, concluding with a music set to celebrate queerness by DJ Adam Munnings.

On August 31st, Container Love will celebrate the closure of this exhibition with an open finissage in an evening of queer community and music. Accessible to everyone for two weeks, Visible Love at POP KUDAMM is also an invitation to the general public to get a closer look at the celebration of self-expression, identities, love, and the promotion of inclusive societies in which equal respect and opportunities are values we should all aim to protect.
