City of Macon becomes unofficial capital of milkshakes in Tombras campaign starring the Mayor and other prominent Macon locals

After a seven-year hiatus, Zaxby's is making a sweet comeback with its beloved milkshakes.

But here's the scoop: Macon, GA is the only place you can get your hands on the iconic shakes that have a cult-like following. It's like a delicious secret hidden in the heart of Georgia – only 1.5 hours south of Atlanta – just waiting to be discovered.

In order to shake things up and build excitement for the milkshake’s big return, the saucy chicken chain – in partnership with ad agency Tombras – teamed up with the City of Macon to create a tourism campaign placing the milkshakes front and centre.

The hero spot ('Sluurp') features the Mayor of Macon speaking directly into the camera and what begins as a straightforward tourism commercial touting the wonders of the city quickly turns to the main attraction: Zaxby’s Milkshakes.

Elements of the campaign include online films ('Sluurp' and 'Macon Tourism'), outdoor billboards, a website takeover, and digital/social content.

“It is pretty incredible that we brought an entire city together to lure tourists with milkshakes,” said Avinash Baliga, ECD of Tombras. “Everyone was in on the joke, including the Mayor, and every person in the ad is a real Maconite. These milkshakes are a very compelling reason to ditch your Paris or Barcelona vacation plans and plan a trip to Macon, GA instead.”

Zaxby’s market test includes four milkshake flavours: Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla, and Birthday Cake available exclusively at select Zaxby’s locations in Macon, GA and surrounding areas for a limited time.
