Coldplay have premiered the video for Champion Of The World, from their acclaimed number one album, Everyday Life.
Directed by Cloé Bailly, this poetic music video explores the imagination of a lonely, misunderstood boy - played by Chris Martin - who finds shelter in his own dreams. With every situation and feeling getting distorted by his fantasy, we are taken on a beautiful journey between reality and imagination.
We get transported into a visually expressive and cinematic world which is whimsical and enchanting full of charisma and quirky nuances, reminiscent of De Vito and Michel Gondry’s work and the beautiful film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Cloé explains: “It’s about this magic power kids have to switch off from reality and jump into their own world, especially when having to cope with pain. It’s a timeless story about feeling out of place and not fitting in and how this feeling can be the source of infinite creativity and an endless drive in life.” She adds: “It’s been such an honour to work with Coldplay. They have been so trusting on set and I am super grateful for them respecting me artistically in the making of this video.”
