The Cancer@Work association, which has been working for over ten years to include people affected by cancer in the workplace, has unveiled a new film to raise awareness of the key role companies can play.
Breaking down taboos about cancer in the workplace
Two years after the ‘Monday’ campaign produced by the Publicis Foundation, which encouraged people diagnosed with cancer to talk about their illness at work, Publicis Conseil presents ‘Strings’, a film that highlights the essential role of support in the cancer recovery process.
In the face of cancer, every support counts.
At a time when 65% of employees want their company to be more involved in dealing with cancer, the campaign highlights the essential role of the workplace as a valuable source of support. Many people mistakenly think that the workplace should remain strictly professional. However, being able to count on colleagues is essential for people with cancer: in fact, 61.5% of them see their colleagues as their main source of support in the workplace.
A human and poetic approach
Directed by Niclas Larsson, the film uses the poetic metaphor of a puppet to illustrate the power of collective support. Tied together by strings symbolising lifelines, the puppet is supported and lifted up by caring hands that represent the gestures of solidarity needed in a healing journey.
