British Arrows Craft Awards Shortlist & Jury Announced

From talented telecine to VFX with va va voom... are you in the running?

It’s time to polish your camera lens and make that Flame Suite sing – the British Arrows Craft Awards have announced the 2013 jury and shortlist. Celebrating the really makers and shakers of the UK advertising industry, the British Arrows crafts awards are the only advertising awards that celebrate the work of individual craftspeople, rather than the agencies and production companies involved.

This year’s jury president is BBH Head of Film is Davud Karbassioun. He’s had a tough task as 2013 has seen an upsurge in entries, proving that quality craft still matters. “It’s an incredible honour to head up the jury for the British Arrows Craft Awards,” he said. “In the words of Sir John Hegarty “The best work is 80% idea, but it is also 80% execution.” Whilst Sir John is clearly a better creative than mathematician, I love this line as it recognises that craft isn’t a science – it’s an art – and it’s as integral in producing beautiful, famous and high performing work as the idea itself.

“These important awards recognise the highly skilled group of specialists in our industry that combine to bring the magic in the making – the people that are the reason I fell in love with this industry. This year we have a record number of entries, and a jury of inspirational people, all of whom stand at the top of their field.”

According to Chairman of the British Arrows, Robert Campbell, just as the quantity of entries in 2013 is exceptionally high, so is the quality. “The quality of work this year was phenomenal, and has reinforced the feeling that we’re pretty good at what we do.”

The awards will be held on November 25th, and to keep up to date follow the British Arrows on Twitter at @britisharrows. Full details of the awards are at www.britisharrows.com.
