Digital media, marketing and technology company Brave Bison has renewed its contract with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) for an additional 12 months. This follows a three-year tenure that saw the Caribbean's leading cricket organisation supported by Brave Bison’s sports entity, Media Network.
Brave Bison’s focus will revolve heavily around content strategy, production and channel management for the CPL YouTube Channel. Work with the CPL will predominantly take place over the T20 tournament period from late August to early October.
Working with the Media Network team at Brave Bison resulted in a successful 2023 for the CPL. Its YouTube channel amassed a total of 7 million hours of watch time, up 21% from the previous year, and 291 million views, an increase of 57% year-on-year. With a desire to build on this success, CPL decided to renew its contract with Brave Bison.
To bring spectators a step closer to the action, the annual T20 tournament, which includes male and female team formats from across the Caribbean, will also see every match live streamed in over 150 countries globally. Bespoke content will be created for the CPL Channel’s 2M+ subscribers pre, during and post-tournament. This will include behind-the-scenes access, YouTube Shorts content, highlights, unmissable moments and more, resonating with multiple audiences with differing viewing habits. The output of this content will be managed daily by Brave Bison with the optimisation of titling, thumbnails, descriptions, tags etc. to maximise performance.
Additionally, Brave Bison’s remit will cover rights management for the CPL and WCPL. The aim of this is to ensure a robust anti-piracy strategy is in place across every event, keeping viewership engaged with the CPL’s own content stream.
Martin Ruffell, head of sport, Brave Bison, commented, “We’re delighted to be renewing our contract with the CPL and WCPL. It’s a great testament to the work that we’ve been doing together over the past three years. It’s now as important as ever that we continue to hit it for six, and see relevant and engaging content carry on driving some great numbers.”
Pete Russell, CEO, CPL, added, “With yearly increases in our YouTube performance, renewing our contract with Brave Bison’s Media Network was a no-brainer. Our audience is vitally important to us, and being able to deliver the content that they desire is hugely gratifying. The figures prove that we're onto a winner, and hopefully this will carry on well into the future.”
