A powerful and visually striking campaign is making waves: Movistar’s 'Teen Digital Gambling Addiction' shines a spotlight on a growing yet often overlooked issue - online betting among teenagers.
Directed by Lucas Shannon and produced by Landia, the film captures the dark pull of digital gambling, showing just how easy - and dangerous - it is for young people to get caught in its grip.
With the powerful tagline 'Don't Lose Your Adolescence to Betting,' the initiative - developed in collaboration with NGO Faro Digital and created by VML goes beyond awareness. It urges teens, parents, and educators to rethink how we interact with technology and the hidden risks that come with it.
The campaign is built on real data: in Buenos Aires, one in four teenagers has already placed an online bet. The rise of digital gambling is fuelled by aggressive marketing on social media and easy access to betting platforms. Yet, these risks often go unnoticed - until it’s too late.
To tackle this, Movistar and Faro Digital have co-created a comprehensive educational program, including workshops, digital resources, and a dedicated landing page where families can access expert-backed guides on prevention and responsible tech use.
Shaking Up the Conversation on Digital Habits
“Gambling addiction isn’t new, but the digital era has given it a new, more insidious form,” says Milagros Schroder, education coordinator at Faro Digital. "We need to start asking tougher questions about what we’re normalising in our digital lives and how these platforms are shaping teen behaviour."
More than a campaign, this is a wake-up call. Movistar is taking the conversation into schools, homes, and online spaces, ensuring this issue gets the attention it deserves.
Because raising awareness isn’t enough - it’s time to take action.
