Blur Studio recently collaborated with 343 Industries and Creative Assembly, a Sega studio, to produce the teaser trailer introducing Halo Wars 2 an exciting new strategy game packed with fast-paced action, massive battles, and an all-new Halo story, coming simultaneously to Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall of 2016.
The announcement trailer closed the Xbox gamescom 2015 briefing in Germany and provides the first look at the dark and gritty world of Halo Wars 2.
Blur has always been an outstanding creative partner for us as their attention to detail, extraordinary aesthetic execution, and experience with telling stories in the Halo universe all lend themselves to these pitch-perfect Halo moments, said Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head, Halo Interactive Entertainment. It's a pleasure to, once again, collaborate with them.
Weve been fortunate to work on various Halo titles, and have produced over 90-minutes of content on everything from cinematics to game trailers and commercials for Xbox, said Dave Wilson, who directed the trailer at Blur. This teaser is a small part of a bigger creative partnership with the incredible talent at 343 Industries and Creative Assembly; and is not a new endeavor for Blur, as our work on this franchise dates back to the original Halo Wars project in 2008.
The trailer is intentionally ambiguous, building up to a final frame announcing Halo Wars 2. Blur worked with 343 Industries to develop the script that provides a window into an intense new storyline in which three Spartans are shown retreating at the hands of a new Brute foe. The complex nature of the photo-real animation required Blur to develop a new character pipeline to handle the Brutes unique facial structure and hair, and deliver the realism of the performances in the all-CG piece.
Developed by Creative Assembly, the creators of the popular Total War series, in partnership with 343 Industries, Halo Wars 2 is the sequel to the game that redefined real-time strategy on consoles.
