This Halloween, Beavertown Brewery is taking Halloween to new heights with the launch of ‘Flightmare’, a three-minute animated short film and graphic novel that takes viewers on a dimension-bending visual trip. Central to the brewery’s ‘Please Be Terrified Responsibly This Halloween’ campaign, the story of turbulence, tentacles and terror is inspired by strange happenings over the Bermuda Triangle.
Hand-illustrated by Beavertown’s creative director, Nick Dwyer, and animated by Black Dog Film’s Alice Bloomfield, the content continues to push the brewery’s unique, visually driven creative approach to Halloween.
Inspired by the likes of Futurama, Goosebumps and Alien, the script, written by author Helen Mullane, draws on vintage horror, sci-fi and Tales of the Unexpected. The audience follows the protagonist, ‘Sonny’, while he sets off on his intrepid journey through the skies. Viewers are encouraged to look out for a number of written and visual easter eggs hidden in the film and novel.
‘Flightmare’ is Beavertown's second foray into Halloween ads, following the brewery’s 2022 short film ‘Rime of The Ancient Mariner’. The brewery continues their unique creative approach by creating chilling and captivating content that fans eagerly anticipate in the lead up to spooky season.
This October, Beavertown’s ‘Flightmare’ will mark the first of the brewery’s ads to make it to the big screen, showing before The Exorcist: Believer, Saw X and Killers of the Flower Moon.
The brewery will also be taking over Old Street’s Kachette on Halloween weekend for an aeronautical themed party with a line up of DJ’s including p-rallel, Artwork, Tash LC, and Make A Dance.
Tom Rainsford, marketing director of Beavertown Brewery, said, “Our brand naturally lends itself to the Halloween season. You just have to pop to the shops or walk around town to see how much we love Halloween in the UK. So to celebrate Halloween we’ve launched our new short film as well our debut graphic novel. Crack open a can of Neck Oil, give Flightmare a watch and of course, “Please Be Terrified Responsibly This Halloween”.
Earlier this summer, Beavertown Brewery and Alice Bloomfield created the brewery’s first-ever music video in collaboration with rock legends Queens of The Stone Age, continuing to take its visual world into interesting and unconventional ad spaces.
