Making his directorial debut, Suthisak Sucharittanonta, creative chairman of BBDO Bangkok, wrote and directed 'Giving Life' – the latest online film for the Ramathibodi Foundation, an organisation that provides healthcare and services for the underprivileged.
Based on a true story, the film follows the introspective narrative of a girl who was abandoned as a baby in the woods among ants and was found and raised by a poor construction worker.
Following the girl’s narration, Suthisak takes us on a journey of the girl’s life; one filled with suffering and sacrifice. From her birth mother abandoning her, to her 'new' mother finding her covered in ants – to be saved, only to discover that she has cerebral palsy. Unable to walk, her new mother carries her everywhere, from home to the hospital and back, for life. Unable to speak, Suthisak reveals a twist in the story, the young girl is mute and the entire narration is made up of thoughts in her mind and explains that the selflessness of her new mother means more to her than she could ever express.
“After three decades in the advertising industry building and promoting brands and products, I now want to use my experience, passions and skills to promote and encourage the betterment of society for the greater good. This film represents the first step of many to come towards my goal of giving back”, said Suthisak.
Ramathibodi Foundation’s 'Giving Life' online film is in line with their belief that 'The happiness of giving… never ends', and as testament to that, 19 years and counting, the Ramathibodi Foundation has been looking after the young girl’s health and wellbeing thanks to the generosity of donors.
