Eurosonic Noorderslag festival, music agency Sizzer and creative advocates Buma Music in Motion are teaming up to host the ‘Sync Songwriting Camp 2019’. On January 17th and 18th, a special selection of local and international artists from this year’s ESNS line-up will be brought together under the roof of the Sync Hotel Studios in the Artist Village. Their mission? To write and record the perfect track for a real Hunkemöller ad campaign.
Fun fact - “We Love It”, the omnipresent brandsong for drugstore Etos, was written at Europe's premier music networking festival Eurosonic Noorderslag. After this success, bringing the Sync Songwriting Camp back to Groningen for another round was an easy choice. For 48 hours, a group of immensely talented musicians will create the soundtrack for a brand new Hunkemöller swimwear TV campaign. An international mix of experienced and upcoming talent will take part in the camp, including Violetta Zironi (IT), Briet (Iceland), Delaporte (ESP), Klangstof (NL), Tjeerd Bomhof and Mathias Janmaat (NL), Van Common (NL), Juveniles (FR), Amy Root (NL) and many more. The sessions will take place at the Sync Hotel Studios in the Artist Village, which were created specifically for this purpose.
At the end of the two days, a team of specialists and the audience will analyze and discuss all the tracks written at a special closing panel. The experts will also be shedding light on original compositions in advertisement, tips on how to get involved in the sync industry, music and branding, the emerging opportunities online and the importance of music agencies. This year’s panelists are music stylist Jesper Gadeberg, Head of Creative at Hunkemöller International Alex Smith, Sizzer Senior Music Producer Seppl Kretz and Sizzer Music Supervisor Dolf Bekker.
Copenhagen-based Jesper Gadeberg Is one of the leading independent creative music supervisors in advertising, working with brands like Heineken, Mercedes and Porsche and directors such as Michel Gondry, TRAKTOR and Martin De Thurah. Alex Smith has been leading the creative process at Hunkemöller International since 2014, helping transform the company from a retailer to an all-round beloved lingerie brand. Seppl Kretz and Dolf Bekker both work at Sizzer, an Amsterdam and Berlin based agency creating music concepts for brands and moving image and initiators of the Songwriting Camp. Mark Gordon, from composition company Score Draw Music in Belfast, will moderate the panel.
The Sync Songwriting Camp offers a unique introduction for young artists to working with brands and composing within an advertising framework. By connecting seasoned professionals and emerging talent the camp tries to promote and nurture innovative use of music in the creative industry.
