Arsenal Football Club has become the first Premier League club to launch an Amazon Alexa Skill that will allow fans to live stream matches.
Skills are Alexa’s in-built capabilities that enable users to interact with devices, like Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, using voice. In this case, the Arsenal Skill for Alexa will allow fans to get the most out of every match day from the comfort of your own home—giving supporters in both the UK and the US access to real-time match stats and live commentary.
Linked into Arsenal’s digital channels, supporters using the Arsenal Skill will have access to pre-match build-up, line-ups, live commentary, score updates and post-match analysis. Fans will also be able to access club information on non-match days, with information available for both past and upcoming games. The Skill ultimately connects fans with every match, in real time. You can start a conversation with Alexa by simply saying, “Alexa, open Arsenal.”
Arsenal’s Head of Marketing, Charles Allen, said: “It is fantastic to be able to offer our supporters another digital channel to access all the club news. It is an easy, efficient and innovative way for fans with Alexa devices, such as Amazon Echo, to keep up with the team and bring the match day action to their own homes.”
AKQA Managing Director Sam Kelly said: “Arsenal have always been a club about the future and bringing the Arsenal fan experience to new platforms. The Arsenal Alexa Skill demonstrates their investment and commitment to innovation for their fans, allowing them to live stream every game to the Amazon Echo platform.”
Currently available to all supporters in the UK and the US, the Arsenal Skill can be enabled via the Alexa app. Visit the Skills section in the app, search for ‘Arsenal’ and select ‘Enable Skill’ to get started, or just say “Alexa, enable Arsenal”. Alexa is also available on Fire TV and, over time, will come to more non-Amazon devices.
The Arsenal Skill was developed by digital agency AKQA, who will continue to work closely with the club to oversee future updates.
