The campaign was created with TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai and directed by Zhang Dapeng

In the latest privacy campaign for China, Apple partners with Chinese actor and legendary Xiangsheng (Crosstalk) performer to bring out a comedic side to privacy, while also showcasing the powerful yet easy-to-use privacy features on iPhone. Although people in China recognise the importance of online privacy, many remain unaware of the measures they can take to protect it.

Apple has worked to ensure that a user can share exactly what they want to, and with whom.

The campaign emphasises both the strong protection and ease of use of iPhone Privacy through a uniquely Chinese lens, as data security is a top concern in China. Crosstalk is one of the most popular folk art forms in China and is loved across generations.

The campaign aims to show that with iPhone, users can achieve maximum protection with minimal effort whilst also making privacy relevant and approachable to everyday users.

Key iPhone privacy features highlighted in the China Privacy campaign include:

  • Private Browsing — open private tabs that don't appear in History on iPhone or in the list of tabs on your other devices.
  • Automatic Strong Passwords — create strong, random, unique passwords when users sign up for or change their password on a website in Safari.
  • Face ID — Face ID authenticates you using the TrueDepth camera.
  • Hidden Album — You can hide photos that you don’t want to display.

The campaign launched on July 8 and will appear on TV, online and on Apple organic channels. The spot will also roll out on display in Apple owned and channel retail stores in mainland China.
