Production Company Alfredo Films welcomes UK director Paul Butterworth for Canadian representation.
Known for his wildly dynamic camera moves, transitions and surrealism in his food spots, Paul has shot for a wide range of brands including Lurpak, Betty Crocker, Canadian Tire and BMW.
Paul’s directorial career follows an extensive background in agency and line producing for commercials and feature films, working alongside iconic directors and on blockbuster films including James Bond - Casino Royale, and City of Ember.
From there, he seamlessly transitioned into commercial directing. He finds and captures nuances and oddities of everyday life and shows viewers the world from unique perspectives which grab attention and engage the senses. And while Paul’s reel has an abundance of unique and zany food spots, he looks to apply his style to more kinds of brands in the future.
Holly Rowden, EP at Alfredo Films, says, “One of the things that we love about Paul is his dedication to previsualisation - he’s happy to workshop in his home using his phone and wacky camera moves which translate to extremely dynamic and orchestrated visuals in the final spot. Paul’s work ethic and style fit perfectly into our roster and we feel he’s got a great future here in Canada!”
Paul adds, “I'm super excited to be joining Alfredo because they think and approach projects differently to the rest of the crowd - and that's how I like to work too. I can sense their hunger to shake things up, make great stuff and do it all in an honourable way. They also make projects feel like fun for everyone involved, which is a really important fuel for genuine creativity.”
Paul Butterworth’s reel can be seen on the Alfredo website.
