Aldi’s latest campaign boasts, 'Everything we don’t do is for you.' Comedically illustrated by Arts & Sciences directing duo Adam & Dave, the spots show the hilarious consequences of shopping at Aldi. The multi-national German supermarket chain known for its convenience is almost too convenient in several instances where circumstances take a turn thanks to Aldi’s easy-to-navigate shopping experience.
In 'Make Out,' two teenagers try to take advantage of an empty house when one of their moms runs to Aldi to go grocery shopping. Wordlessly, they lean in to kiss, but before their lips can touch - Mom’s back!
'Parking Lot' sees another parent-child pairing; they’re running errands together this time. The mom drops off her son to head in, where she’ll join him after she parks the car, and - nope, before she can find parking, he’s already done shopping and checked out.
'Lost Husband' takes a different cinematic turn from Adam & Dave, with this spot starting in parody. One woman is distraught as a missing poster is tacked up on a grocery aisle. Her husband got lost on his way to get hummus. Next, a search team with K9 units set out to find him in a too-large grocery store with flashlights and walkie-talkie audio inserts. Cut to: the same couple peacefully shopping - danger-free - in Aldi. No one gets left behind!
Masters of the awkwardness of everyday life, Adam & Dave make good on the comedic phrasing of “Everything we don’t do is for you” by having their characters cope with the fallout from shopping with Aldi; it’s so convenient that it’s almost disruptive.
