Apple’s latest film, ‘A Gift for Mom’, celebrate families on Mother’s Day and demonstrates how spatial video capture on iPhone and playback on Apple Vision Pro offers a new way to preserve and revisit life’s precious moments.
The short film from TBWA\Media Arts Lab, LA and PRETTYBIRD director Goh Iromoto features parents Khulan (koo-lahn) and Sam Baasanjav (bah-sahn-jav). The film follows Sam who captured the first year of their new-born's life in spatial video on iPhone. This was then edited into a home video for Khulan, who watched it on the Apple Vision Pro.
The film captures the genuine moment of surprise when Khulan watches her baby’s first year unfold before her with the help of Apple Vision Pro. Her feelings are apparent, and the whole experience illustrates how memories can be relived in a powerful new way.
PRETTYBIRD director Goh Iromoto spent a full year working with the first-time parents, helping Sam compile over 55 hours of spatial video, which included the baby’s first few days home, first time standing, first steps, first time being held by his big sister, and first meal.
‘A Gift for Mom’ will launch on Apple’s YouTube channel and the @apple Instagram profile ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11th, 2025.
