Jason Campbell, CCO at Translation Enterprises, and Ashley Henderson, founder and CEO at League Twenty Two, are the recipients of this year’s prestigious ADCOLOR | THE ONE CLUB Creative Award, presented this past weekend at the 18th annual ADCOLOR Awards ceremony, part of the 2024 ADCOLOR Conference in Los Angeles.
Now in its 15th year, given to a creative from a historically excluded community who has demonstrated extraordinary talent and achievement. within the media, creative, digital, and traditional advertising disciplines.
The honour is presented jointly by The One Club for Creativity, the world’s foremost non-profit organisation whose mission is to support the global creative community, and ADCOLOR, the premier organisation dedicated to celebrating and promoting professionals of colour and diversity in the creative industries.
The award was co-presented on stage by Adrienne Lucas, head of DEI and strategic partnerships at The One Club, and Courtney Richardson, creative director at Droga5, who won the award in 2021.
“The One Club has for decades provided programming such as ONE School, Creative Boot Camps, and annual Where Are All The Black People conference and career fair that helps solve the industry's diversity problem,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO, The One Club. “We’re proud to work with ADCOLOR and recognize Jason and Ashley for their inspiring accomplishments.”
Jason Campbell’s Caribbean roots colour his creativity, his perspectives, and have been instrumental in how he got to where he is today.
He has worked for top brands including Nike, the NBA, Verizon, Impossible Foods, Airbnb, Beats by Dre, and others, and held a teaching position at Miami Ad School. Prior to his professional career, he was named one of Adweek’s “Top 5 Ad School Graduates”, and received The One Club’s Patrick Kelly Scholarship.
Although his career has extended across some of the top agencies, he found Translation to be a place where he could test many of his beliefs around the true value of diversity and its creative power. As CCO at Translation, an agency that’s legacy is founded on pushing culture forward; it takes fearlessness and vulnerability to lead within a space dedicated to breaking free of the dated norms of the advertising industry.
Ashley Henderson is an LA native, Howard graduate, mentor, and leader. College served as an incubation period for mastering the skills needed to perfect her craft, followed by internships at Interscope Records, W.H.U.R Radio in Washington DC, and the desk of Michael Eric Dyson, where she learned the art of business and how it intersected with creativity.
Ashley went on to lead regional events as a manager at Estee Lauder and Mac Cosmetics, where the entrepreneurial spark eventually became too bright to ignore. After a long corporate run, she founded League Twenty Two in Los Angeles, and the rest is still being written.
The ADCOLOR | THE ONE CLUB Creative Award was jointly established by the two organisations in 2009. It was first presented to Jimmy Smith, who now serves as chairman, CEO, and CCO at Amusement Park Entertainment in Los Angeles, and is a member of The One Club Board of Directors.
