Julian Boulding, founder of thenetworkone, says, "The magic of the Indie Awards is that they are about quality, not size. The top prize winner in any category is as likely to be Germany’s Serviceplan, the world’s largest independent agency, as it is to be Optimist, a small agency from Estonia, a country of just over 1m people."
For Jason Foo, CEO of BBD Perfect Storm in the UK and winner of the Public Good Award and overall Best in Show Award in 2022, the awards are recognition among a global network of creative innovators. He said: "Winning was a special moment for our agency. As a proud independent agency, our Indie was recognition of the excellence we strive for in pushing boundaries and championing innovation for public good.
"I would urge all those agencies considering entering this year’s awards to ‘go for it’ – this is the chance to put your agency on the global stage, to compete with the very best independents in our industry and to showcase your creativity."
Spirit of creativity
Julian Boulding said, "Our awards are designed to honour and amplify the entrepreneurial spirit of the independent agencies. But it's not just about creativity; independent agencies are competing on the international stage against the largest holding companies and networks. Their agility, flexibility, and innovative approaches allow them to go head-to-head with industry giants, delivering exceptional results and earning client trust."
Creative award entries are judged by independent peers from across the world. The full list of judges for the 2023 awards will be unveiled shortly and will be drawn from agency founders and CEOs as well as leading creative directors from leading agencies across the world, from the UK and Croatia to Hong Kong and Canada.
Tara Turkington, Founder and CEO of Flow Communications in South Africa chaired the Corporate PR category and Best of Show for the 2022 awards. She said: ‘The range of clients and topics was incredible. The award-winning entries stood out because they were multichannel, addressed many different stakeholders and captured people’s imaginations.
"Crucial to achieving an award-winning submission was including impact – so I urge 2023 entrants to include their results and learning throughout. Best of luck for agencies entering in 2023 – I can’t wait to see the finalists!"
