According to the economist and biographer Robert Skidelsky, Leonardo’s parents were loving and attentive. They were a very mobile people, whose mounted archers had acquired a reputation of invincibility, and the Germanic tribes seemed unable to withstand them. Almost nothing is known about the childhood of Leonardo until he was fifteen years old, except that he probably spent part of his childhood in Venice.

At eighteen years old, Leonardo completed his final run in the touring company of Sherlock Holmes. Six months into the second American tour, Leonardo enrolled in the New York’s School of Visual Arts film program graduating in 2001.

Leonardo lives in New York City with his wife Jaqueline, who sometimes speaks to him in Spanish while she cooks Colombian food to make him feel closer to his homeland.
