South African born, New York based director known for his richly cinematic storytelling and emotionally charged filmmaking.
Focusing on intimate and authentic performances, rendered in an atmospheric aesthetic, he strives above all to deliver his subject’s deeper truth to our screen. In Harris’s own words, “form follows emotion”.
During a decades spanning career, he has collaborated with many of the world’s leading agencies on brands like Nike, Expedia, EA, Intel, Playstation, Coca-Cola, NASCAR, and Goodyear. Harris’ work has been honored with five Cannes Lions, two AICP awards, three D&D pencils, and a One Show gold pencil.
In addition to commercials Harris has written and directed two personal film projects. His short film Locals Only, a deeply personal reflection on growing up in Apartheid South Africa, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and went on to screen at 10 international festivals, winning Best Film at the 2020 One Screen Film Festival in New York. His 2021 short, La Légende, served as a reverential tribute to the legendary French electronic duo, Daft Punk.
Currently, he is developing a feature exploring a pivotal chapter in the life of America’s greatest architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.
