I’ve always loved advertising.
While studying economics I worked at the local pub, pulling beers, booking bands and placing ads in street press. What I loved was the weekly feedback of numbers through the door… I was hooked on cause and effect.
Economics gave me market theory but advertising taught me about consumer behaviour.
I joined Grey Advertising in the mid-nineties, first in Adelaide and then in Melbourne. It was a great time to be at Grey and I learned a lot about how agencies work from some incredibly smart operators. Then, in a fit of optimism and audacity, I opened my own agency with creative, Parris Mesidis.
We hadn’t turned 30.
Showpony is now a leading creative agency with offices in Melbourne and Adelaide, a staff of forty something and a shelf full of awards from here and overseas that’s helped build a reputation for creativity and effectiveness
My twenty plus years as Managing Director of Showpony has provided many wonderful experiences from launching iconic brand Budweiser in Australia or filming in Japan with Sapporo Beer, to writing strategies for brands like Bridgestone Tyres and Bendigo Bank. Tackling creative strategy is like a cryptic crossword, it’s immensely satisfying to crack the code and find the answer that works.
At Showpony we make belief. Just ask us.
