The America's Cup is one of the most prestigious and storied competitions in sailing, dating back to 1851 when Queen Victoria famously asked, "Who goes first?" The response, "America, Your Majesty," followed by the now legendary, "There is no second," the perfect example of the relentless drive and unparalleled spirit of competition. That same spirit thrives today in the latest VFX-driven campaign for Cupra, created in partnership with the America's Cup, helmed by Zoic Studios.
This project, overseen by Zoic Studios' executive creative director Aladino Debert and VFX supervisor Andrew Bardusk, showcases the studio's deep expertise and commitment to delivering cutting-edge visual effects. Zoic Studios brought their technical prowess and artistry to life in this film, ensuring the campaign captures the high-speed, high-stakes atmosphere of the America's Cup.
Zoic's collaboration extended beyond its own talented team, joining forces with acclaimed filmmaker J.A. Bayona, known for his work on films like Society of the Snow and Jurassic World. This partnership allowed the vision for the campaign to seamlessly blend the intensity of competitive sailing with the powerful imagery that Cupra represents.
Collaborating with the J.A. Bayona was a standout moment, but it didn’t stop there. “There is no Second” also benefited from the expertise of the Roma production team, led by Oscar Romagosa and Claudia Mayer, and Alex Maldonado. The Roma team entrusted Zoic with complex VFX and worked side by side with our team throughout the production process. Their collective talent brought to life a visually breathtaking and narratively powerful campaign that perfectly showcases Cupra’s sleek, performance-oriented edge.
Special thanks to the & Rosas agency team for entrusting Zoic Studios with the heavy lifting required for the VFX work in this campaign. This partnership demonstrates Zoic's ability to elevate storytelling through their intricate visual effects, leaving a lasting impact that matches the prestige of the America's Cup.
