‘Driving Home for Christmas’ gets its very own MINI music video, Air Canada pulls at our heartstrings and the lottery takes over Europe, writes LBB’s Nisna Mahtani
With just over a week ‘till Christmas is upon us, we’re still getting our fix of the warm and fuzzies that are synonymous with campaigns around this time of year. This week, MINI and Anomaly share the surprising story of Driving Home For Christmas, the classic anthem that has become a festive favourite.
Picture this, it’s winter in 1978, Chris Rea is standing outside Abbey Road Studios, waiting for his wife to pick him up in their Austin Mini. Why? He hadn’t quite made it yet and the record label wouldn’t pay for his train ticket home, so Joan made the journey from Middlesbrough to bring him home for Christmas. Inspired by the journey, Chris goes on to write Driving Home for Christmas and now, MINI has given it a music video.
Across Europe, the buzz builds around national lotteries and across the pond, Air Canada shows us how to create connections with a touching stop motion animation spot.
For this week’s best work, keep reading!
