At iProspect, we believe that our employees are more than just their job titles. They're talented, multifaceted individuals with unique interests and hobbies that make them who they are. Many of our employees possess a unique trademark - a special skill or passion that is exclusive to them, making them stand out in their own way. It's what we like to call their 'IP.'
In this edition of 'What's Your IP,' we interviewed Megan Moore, an associate creative director at iProspect, about her deep involvement with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Megan shared that her passion for fundraising events has been instrumental in her personal and professional growth. Since being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a young age, Megan took the initiative to organise her own events after college, utilising her marketing skills, network, and determination to make a meaningful impact through fundraising.
Megan> I think the way that it's really helped me grow personally and professionally is that it's really allowed me to take a passion and own it and make success out of fundraising events. It's something my family has been involved in since I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at age five. But it wasn't until I graduated college and was working that I wanted to start running some of my own events. I felt like I had the tools to do it, from marketing using my network, to finding ways to build awareness to make it successful.
Megan> There are a few that I've had. One of them was speaking at my first large fundraiser back in 2017. It was at a big gala auction fundraiser, and it was something my mom had been asking me for years if I wanted to do. Doing that really helped my confidence and allowed me to feel more comfortable about using my story and background to inspire others to get involved. Another memorable moment was creating my own fundraising event in 2020, a virtual race. Seeing it raise over $75,000 over the last four years (and grow each year) has been really rewarding for me.
Megan> Part of the reason I wanted to join iProspect was because it had a different culture. They care about the employee's well-being outside of just the day-to-day work. I liked that they were comfortable with letting people work from home and allowed opportunities for people to get involved in BRGs and volunteer days. It truly feels like they care about us as humans.
Megan> For me, it has recently changed since I got promoted. My workday now focuses more on creative strategy, website design, client relationships, and overseeing team members and projects. I also set up a foundation for the other people on my team to succeed in their work.
Megan> It has allowed me to create a network of people and motivate them, even during covid. The fundraising aspect has translated to real-world impact. The funds raised have contributed to research and the development of treatments for Cystic Fibrosis. Seeing the improvements in lung function for people with CF has been rewarding. It's also inspiring to know that the median age of survival has increased significantly from when I was born (from 18 to now mid-50s).
