What a PA-laver! at Angell Sound

As a creative it was an eye-opener into how sound and performance can enhance an idea, or dictate it from the outset." 

 

Angell Sound hosted their inaugural audio masterclass, PA-laver!, opening their doors to sixteen bright, young production assistants and junior creatives from some of London's top ad agencies, including BBH, Wieden & Kennedy and BETC.

 

The evening proved to be a massive success as the group rotated through the studios, with a glass of bubbly in hand of course, learning about the different aspects of audio post-production, covering best studio practices, sound design and a practical demonstration of Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

 

The climax of the event saw the vastly experienced engineer, Nick Angell, and the indomitable voice-over artist and mimic, Lewis MacLeod, conduct a Q&A about life behind the mic. Proving to be quite the double act, they gave insightful voice direction advice for the aspiring creatives, shared unrepeatable anecdotes from the 80s advertising heyday and even topped off with an uncanny Boris Johnson impression.

 

It was not only a very fun night but it proved to be very fulfilling for all involved as an interactive platform to share ideas about audio creative.
