Wave, the globally acclaimed sound design, edit and mix post house have been named ‘Sound Company of the Year 2019’ at Ciclope Festival of International Craft.
This past year has seen the studios win multiple awards across continents, cementing their status as the most awarded sound house in the world. The Ciclope award is in recognition of their recent work for The New York Times. The Campaign was created by Droga5 NY who engaged the talents of Furlined directors Martin & Lindsay.
After winning two Grand Prix’s at this year’s Ciclope festival the result was Wave winning the ultimate accolade. Aaron Reynolds, who heads up Wave’s New York office, led the sound design for the campaign with a collaboration from Ed Downham at the London office on the ‘Perserverance’ spot.
The New York Times campaign had already clocked up an impressive list of awards at many global festivals; receiving two Cannes Gold Lions for Sound Design plus Film Craft Grand Prix. The D&AD presented the films with a pencil as did the One Show NY.
This year has been a particularly rewarding one for Wave and this festive season has seen them collaborate on many of the most prominent Christmas campaigns. These include sound design for Walkers, Asda, Aldi, Renault and Sainsbury’s to name a few. Not only is Wave NY successfully celebrating it’s 2nd year of infancy, 2019 also marks the 10th anniversary of Wave Amsterdam and the 20th anniversary of Wave London.
Of the news Warren Hamilton comments, “2019 has been an amazing year for Wave’s award cabinet, culminating in the Ciclope Festival accolade for Sound Company of the Year. It’s no surprise to us when we see the pool of talent we have in London, Amsterdam and New York. This is simply an acknowledgment for all the energy, dedication and creativity, our designers and team put into each and every project. We are extremely grateful to all our wonderful clients and their devotion to the craft. We wouldn’t be able to win such awards without their great scripts”
Johnnie Burn says, “It’s truly an honour that well into our 20th year we are still lucky enough to be working at the top level on such incredible creative opportunities, and we absolutely have our clients to thanks for that”.
Aaron Reynolds adds, “The campaign is compelling and powerful, and we’re very grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such a creative agency like Droga5. Through this partnership, we pushed boundaries, experimented, and created work we’re so proud of”
