Eduardo returns to the country to lead the creative department after working in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East

VML Brazil announces the hiring of Eduardo Marques as its new chief creative officer. With more than 25 years of experience and over 400 international awards, including 52 Cannes Lions (of which four are Grand Prix), Eduardo returns to Brazil after 13 years leading creative departments at major global agencies in Europe and the United States. His most recent position was CCO of Publicis Groupe in Europe, based in Amsterdam.

Recognised as one of the most talented professionals in the global creative industry, Eduardo was featured in Ad Age's prestigious '40 under 40' list in 2017 and was named one of the 30 most creative advertising professionals by Business Insider in 2016. Recently, he ranked in The Drum's global top 10 CCOs in 2021 and 2022.

Eduardo is one of the creatives behind iconic campaigns such as 'Moldy Whopper' for Burger King, 'Real Life Series' for IKEA, 'Boost Your Voice' and 'Unfairy Tales' for UNICEF, among others. In addition to Cannes Lions, his work has been recognised with a Black Pencil and 20 Pencils at D&AD, 42 Clios (including six Grand Clios), and 48 One Show Pencils.

"I work with the goal of using creativity in ways that engage with culture and include different perspectives and journeys. I believe this generates real results for our clients' businesses. Being at VML is a great opportunity to put this into practice, alongside a strong team, clients who are willing to take risks, and an agency vision that looks at the entire customer journey, always with creativity at its core," says Eduardo. "Having lived on four continents over 13 years outside Brazil has made me see something very clearly: it's the mix of talents, stories, and worldviews that allows us to create new and powerful things. Now, back in Brazil, I'm even more motivated to lead with Brazilian creative passion, always maintaining an open and renewed perspective."

Karina Ribeiro, CEO of VML Brazil, comments on the arrival of the new creative leader, "Eduardo's hiring represents an important milestone for VML Brazil. His global experience, combined with his extraordinary talent and passion for Brazilian creativity, will be fundamental in elevating our work even further. We are building a VML that unites the best of what we have to offer: local creativity and cultural relevance with the scale and integration of a global network, always with agility and efficiency, delivering the best work to our clients."

Eduardo also shares his vision for the future of creativity at the agency, "VML has precisely this power: uniting disciplines, talents, innovation and data under one roof, which increases the chance of ideas gaining real power- both creatively and in their effectiveness. An agency that understands its integration potential and acts with the agility I've seen here since we started our conversations has enormous value for clients. And that's what I'll help enhance from now on. It will be an incredible journey."

For Debbi Vandeven, global CCO of VML, Eduardo's arrival will reinforce the central role that the office represents for the network. “Brazilian creativity motivates our global network, and with Marques leading the creative charge, I have no doubt that São Paulo will continue to be a vibrant source of inspiration. I'm excited to see how his leadership will elevate VML's work, both locally and globally, delivering even more impactful human-first ideas for our clients.”

Eduardo Marques' arrival completes the VML Brazil board, which under CEO Karina Ribeiro's leadership includes Camila Arruda (chief people officer), Gabriela Amato (chief media officer), Jaqueline Travaglin (chief operating officer), Marcio Toscani (chief financial officer), Renato Fischer (chief business officer), and Stella Pirani (chief strategy officer).
