Super Coffee transports us back to 1991 in 'Iced Vanilla Ice', a new film launching the brand’s zero sugar, protein coffee and new flavor, Iced Vanilla. Helmed by Greenpoint Pictures director Rob Soucy and co-produced by Bathtub Gin, the film will be in heavy rotation this summer across streaming platforms such as Hulu, Roku, Spotify, YouTube, and Apple TV.
“The creative offered such a fun and playful way to launch Super Coffee’s new product line,” says Soucy. “Its quick and witty dialogue sets the stage for an unexpected, perfectly-timed reveal at the end – the one and only Vanilla Ice.”
The film opens with a literal crash, as a Vanilla Ice lookalike rams his grocery cart into a shelf that is chock full of Super Coffee products and begins throwing case after case into his cart. Looking on in calm bemusement, two shopping clerks add David Attenborough-like commentary as the hoarding spectacle unfolds. A crash zoom finds us at the ice freezer, which leads into a 90s-esque dance break as the Vanilla Ice lookalike gets down with an impromptu dance crew in the Super Coffee aisle—charmingly noted as aisle 'A1A'. The dance ends and the camera swings back to the freezer section, revealing the real Vanilla Ice holding two bags of ice next to a baby (nice touch). Unsure of what’s just happened, the real Vanilla Ice then says what we’ve all been thinking.
Chad Portas, CCO of Super Coffee, says: “Our job was simple — introduce folks to the healthy benefits of Super Coffee while keeping it as lighthearted as our drinks. We ultimately decided that the only thing cooler than our Iced Vanilla, is three Iced Vanillas. Dopplegangers, dancing seafood managers, and ice bags with babies are all key ingredients for a full day’s serving of fun.”
“The ‘Fun, fun, fun, fun. Fun.’ mnemonic is a great cherry on top of our absurdist comedy sundae,” Craig Herrick, founder of Bathtub Gin, added. “And Vanilla Ice’s performance tees it up perfectly.”
