Torres Blancas was awarded Best Dutch Fashion Film at the Fashion Film Festival Amsterdam on Friday, February 10th. The piece was directed by Nina Aaldering and edited by Splash Studios founder Rigel Kilston for international fashion magazine Numéro Netherlands.
Torres Blancas opens on the icon of Madrid’s brutalist architecture of the same name. The tower itself plays the role of a futuristic boutique where one can purchase a new appearance. The film veers between black and white and technicolour as three models partake and explore their new physical identities. Torres Blancas probes viewers to examine questions like what beauty means in our times and what we would sacrifice for it.
“This is the second time recently that Splash has been involved in an award for a passion project. As always, Nina succeeded in bringing together a wonderful, dynamic crew all on her own. Particularly Kika Douglas who’s script writing brought the whole film to life. There was no client here, so it was up to Nina and her incredible team to make a miracle happen.” said senior editor Rigel Kilston.
The piece was produced by Goodhouse Films in conjunction with Splash Studios for post production and De Grot on colour and VFX. Splash Studios is an award winning editorial house that works closely with agencies worldwide creating music videos, commercial films, and fashion films.
