As part of a series of promotions to reflect the growth of the agency, TMW, part of Accenture Song, has promoted three senior staff members to executive positions.
Steve Garside will now be chief growth officer; Karen Morris has been appointed chief client officer; whilst Phil Rhodes has been promoted to executive creative director. The creation of these roles reflects a sustained period of commercial and creative success for the agency.
Since joining TMW as divisional head of new business and marketing in 2021, Steve Garside has led a record-breaking period of new business growth for the agency. TMW has won over 40 new clients in the past two years, with landmark new business additions including Suzuki’s integrated creative account and McDonald’s CRM. In his new role as chief growth officer, Steve will continue to lead new business, being responsible for the overall growth of TMW, including fostering further collaboration throughout UNLIMITED and Accenture Song.
As well as playing a pivotal role in driving TMW’s recent pitch success as client lead on new wins (Suzuki, McDonald’s) and competitive retentions (The King’s Trust), Karen Morris’ promotion comes after an impressive period as client services director. In that role, Karen has driven four consecutive years of double-digit percentage growth and outstanding client satisfaction scores (90% of clients would recommend TMW to a peer). As Chief Client Officer, she will continue to set the standards for delivering exceptional client experience, shaping the agency’s offering to answer evolving client needs.
As creative director, Phil Rhodes has ensured that the quality and effectiveness of TMW’s creative output been at the heart of its achievements. Phil heads up several of the agency’s creative accounts (including the King’s Trust, Pride in London and Rail Delivery Group), while also playing a key role in new business success – including the recent McDonald’s pitch. In this new position, Phil will continue to report into Graeme Noble, TMW’s Chief Creative Officer, with broader responsibilities across the agency.
These appointments are three of over twenty promotions announced in January covering all areas of the business.
Emma Norman, managing director, TMW said, “Talent has always been both our calling card as an agency, and the fuel for our success. Brilliant people produce brilliant work and inspire our clients to trust us with more. Our success has been driven by nurturing talent, embracing fresh ideas and creating an environment where everyone can bring their full selves to work – Steve, Karen and Phil as well as being perfect examples of that are also inspiring and respected senior leaders across the business and this recognition is very well deserved.”
Steve Garside, chief growth officer, TMW said, “The past few years working at TMW have been packed with career highlights. Huge wins and huge growth, underpinned by a truly special culture. Fortunately, there are still so many incredible opportunities out there where we can continue to transform brands’ businesses with our approach.
Karen Morris, chief client officer, TMW said, “I am absolutely delighted to be stepping into the role of Chief Client Officer for an agency that I love and am extremely proud of. TMW could not be in a better place right now. Our work is being recognised across the industry, we have happy clients, we are winning pitches and are now part of the Accenture Song family. I can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds for our people, agency and clients.”
Phil Rhodes, executive creative director, TMW said, “It’s a privilege for me to help lead the extraordinarily talented creative team we have here at TMW. Our continued success is testament to the creativity, craft and dedication we bring to every project for every client. And I’m excited to see what new spaces this helps us push into.”
