Dani has been honing her skills and building up a following of directors and DOPs over the last five years

Time Based Arts has announced that colourist Daniela Rotaru has joined its colour grading team. Dani joins Ruth Wardell and Simone Grattarola as TBA continue its commitment to finding and developing exceptional artists.

Dani was born in Romania and moved to London at the age of seven. She followed her passion for moving image to Royal Holloway where she studied film, specialising in cinematography. After a stint as an edit assistant, Dani found herself a job as a runner in post and fell in love with colour gradings combination of artistic and technical skills. Working her way up from runner, Dani has been honing her skills and building up a loyal following of directors and DOPs over the last five years.

“Time Based Arts has been looking for a colourist who embodied the company’s drive and passion for creative excellence. The way the team come together to find solutions on each project means that we look for people that can consider, investigate and inspire. In Dani we found not only a shared belief in going the extra mile, but also a really great person to work alongside Ruth and myself,” says Simone.

Dan Kreeger, EP for colour at TBA commented, “Dani has clearly been working hard with her peer group in cinematography and direction. She caught our eye with her great work in promos, fashion and content films. She has all the hallmarks of a great collaborator and we have total belief she will grow with us and be a key player in our award-winning commercial and longform work.”

The grading team recently won a pencil at D&AD for their work on Channel 4s idents. The colourists teamed-up and produced 25 individual grades for 17 different directors, all whilst grading through some incredibly complex VFX. This piece of work perfectly demonstrates the strong collaborative and cohesive approach integral to producing award-winning work. Other recent projects of note include Ruth Wardell's ‘Wish’ for Ian Pons Jewell, plus upcoming work for Ford with Anton Tammi and Figs for Lana Senaoui. Simone has been finishing his work on Natalie Rae's upcoming Netflix feature ‘Daughters’ and grading two epic Nike spots; ‘Musiala’ directed by Matilda Finn and ‘Awaken Your Madness’ directed by Sam Pilling.
