This Ironic Anthem Captures Chronic Phone Use

Dreamboat's the Norman Brother’s casts a lens on those spent with eyes glued to mobile phones

Thumb stopping short 'Scrolling Song' lampoons compulsive phone use to darkly comic effect.

Set to a song produced by Grammy winning producer Rob Kleiner, the Norman Brother’s new one minute short film is an ironic anthem for days spent with eyes glued to mobile phones. In this case, the medium is the metaphor, as the film was conceived to screen principally on social media platforms while casting a satirical lens upon that very activity.

Kris Downing stars as a man preoccupied with his tiny screen, much to the dismay of his romantic partner, played by Courtney Rikki Green. But all’s well that ends well… or is it.

In addition to his acting work, Kris is a photographer and organiser of Chess Night in Chicago. Courtney will be making her debut at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre this month in Henry V.

Directing duo the Norman Brothers utilised generative AI to pre-visualize the image sequences before production began on location, in Chicago.
