Following on from last years successful pre-season Premier League campaign The Ultimate Stage, Felt were brought on board to score the second film titled The Wait Is Over created by Creative sports agency, Dunlop Goodrich.
Looking through the roster, it was an obvious choice as to which composer would be best fitting and recent addition Deadly Avenger was the number one pick. Composer, producer and international DJ, Damon Baxter aka Deadly Avenger, first burst onto the dance music scene back in the the early 2000s. Supported by the likes of Fatboy Slim, Damon was heralded as the pioneer of ‘Big Beat’ touring the world and setting dancefloors alight. But it wasn’t until the first remixes were commissioned that the true Deadly Avenger sound would emerge. A sound that the indie scene embraced, bands such as Travis, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow, and The Charlatans were all seduced by the overly emotional strings, blended with dirty beats and enigmatic arrangements. Now specialising in music to picture recent credits include trailers for Fast and Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Antman.
"We were looking to create a track that would communicate the building excitement and tension for the new football season ahead," Explained Deadly Avenger. "We started by using distorted kicks and bass synths, glitchy percussion, all whilst retaining an epic and emotive feel to the piece. The track builds into a reveal, where we used risers and reverses effects (similar to movie trailer arrangements) then into the 3rd and final act with the crowd are roaring, the beats are slamming and the strings are soaring….The Wait is Over."
Music Producer and FELT Creative Director Steve Spiro also commented "It was great to work on this exciting project with Deadly Avenger. He is such an accomplished artist and composer. With his skill set of working on high end Hollywood film trailers, he seamlessly applied the same principle and tackled the score as a three act story building his track throughout from a tense start to the big euphoric payoff at the end of the trailer."
This film is an addition to the extensive sports trailers and commercials that Felt have worked on recently including jobs for Sport England, Manchester United, The NFL and England Rugby.
