Three new TV spots from CP+B have been released to promote letgo, the mobile marketplace app.
Last October, letgo made its TV debut in the US using big-budget action commercials with Hollywood directors. The campaign was a huge success: the app saw tens of millions of downloads and was named the fastest growing mobile marketplace for secondhand goods.
Directed by Craig Gillespie (The Finest Hours, Million Dollar Arm, Lars and the Real Girl), these new spots use extreme situations to show how we are all irrationally tied to things we don’t need anymore, and how with letgo’s quick, streamlined mobile experience, users can easily post an item for sale in seconds.
In “Disco Ball” a girl riding a scooter through heavy traffic won’t get rid of her disco ball even though she can’t see where she’s going. Disco Ball also marks the return to TV by the legendary Village People.
In “Jump” a newbie skydiver doesn’t want to part with her sewing machine, even though it’s keeping her from pulling the ripcord.
And in “Quicksand”, a man won’t let go of his kegerator even though he’s sinking in quicksand.
