New brand identity reinforces 'made from natural ingredients’ nature of the product

The Public House created a brand new identity and pack design for the Irish Craft Soda company. The Dead Centre Brewing Company looked outside their category and saw a gap in the market for an authentically crafted Irish Soda. They came to The Public House with a brief to create a brand ID and packaging that could challenge established competitors in the category and give them a proper run for their money.

Understanding the business need to create strong brand awareness and stand out on shelf The Public House worked closely with the team at The Irish Craft Soda Company to create something unexpected for their brand. They intentionally avoided the floral, botanical ‘craft’ formula in favour of something more conceptual to reinforce the 'made from natural ingredients’ nature of the product. This approach led to a bold and playful brand aesthetic that will be seen across the range and positions the brand as tasty, fun and full of character.

Speaking about the design, Eimear O’Sullivan, head of design, The Public House, said, “What a  great brief to work on! We put this under our lens of ‘Boring Doesn’t Sell’ and really tried to bring something unexpected to the natural soft drink category. We wanted the pack design to ooze character and have edge - characteristics that are now part of the brand's DNA!”.

Liam Tutty, founder of Irish Craft Soda Company added, “I went to the Public House with a blank slate. They took the time to get to know me and what my vision was for the brand. Instantly they understood the personality I wanted to breathe into The Irish Craft Soda Company and got to work on investigating how we could achieve that. They took on feedback so enthusiastically and treated every revision as an opportunity to refine and further The Irish Craft Soda Co's identity. The finished product speaks volumes about the simplicity of the product, the boldness of the flavours and the warmth of the brand's personality.

The Irish Craft Soda Company is the brainchild of Liam Tutty of Dead Centre Brewing. The company was born when Liam observed that whilst craft brews are plentiful, the Irish soda scene had remained quiet. With a firm focus on using fewer, but higher quality ingredients, The Irish Craft Soda Company’s Lemonade is made using only four natural ingredients with no nasties thrown in and is here to say ‘no’ to boring, mass-produced soda.

The Public House is Ireland’s most awarded creative agency of 2022, driven by the philosophy that ‘Boring Doesn’t Sell’. Their roster of clients is made up of ambitious Irish brands including FBD Insurance, Irish Independent, Dunnes Stores, EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum and Barnardos.
