Allies in Growth: Why Some Conversations Need Their Own Space

In a world of endless connectivity, why create a women-only networking space? Well if yesterday’s seat reserves are anything to go by there is clearly a need for it!! Sally Miller’s event was full in a record 23 minutes! And for the first time two (wonderful) male allies emailed to ask if they could attend. I’ve been waiting for this.. I had to say no.. but the answer lies not in exclusion, but in the power of intentional community and the unique magic that happens when women feel truly safe to share their stories.

The emPOWER Breakfast was born from recognising that professional women often navigate unique challenges, that benefit from a dedicated space for honest exploration. This isn't about keeping anyone out – it's about creating an environment where vulnerability becomes strength and authentic connections flourish.

When the inclusion is intentional to a specific group there begins a specific kind of conversation. Just as book clubs, therapy groups, and support circles often benefit from demographic focus, The emPOWER Breakfast creates space for women to explore professional and personal challenges through shared experience. This vision extends beyond the breakfast table. While the core events maintain their women-only format, the initiative is evolving to include broader elements: a podcast sharing these conversations with all listeners (go and subscribe on Spotify or Apple!) The launch of emPOWER Men this year will see mixed-audience events, and a developing mentorship network is in the pipeline creating ripples throughout the professional community. 

The heart of The emPOWER Breakfast lies in its grassroots authenticity. Partially self-funded we need more amazing sponsors to step up and support this initiative that is creating genuine connection, building a foundation for future expansion – including quarterly drop-in sessions, mentoring opportunities, and spaces for broader community engagement.

This isn't just another networking event. It's a movement rooted in authenticity, growing through genuine connection, and evolving to serve its community's needs. The future includes multiple touchpoints: mixed-audience events, paired speaker sessions, and digital content accessible to all. But at its core, The emPOWER Breakfast remains committed to creating spaces where authentic connection can thrive.
